Alessandra Calvi joined the LSTS and the d.pia.lab in July 2019 as researcher. She also has been working at the Brussels Privacy Hub as event assistant since January 2019. Her research interests include the interrelationships between law and technology, in particular between data protection and the circular economy.

After obtaining a law degree from the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore of Milano (thesis “The issue of data protection in the struggle against terrorism in public international law”), she completed a law clerkship at the Tribunal of Pavia (Labour law section), combing it with a trainee lawyer experience in a criminal law firm.

Alessandra moved to Brussels to work at the European Data Protection Supervisor as IT Policy Trainee and afterwards she enrolled to the LLM in International and European law – Data law option at the Vrije Universiteit Brussels-Institute of European Studies. She graduated in July 2019 (summa cum laude), obtaining an outstanding master thesis award for her work “Interrelationships between EU data protection law and the circular economy – Data protection and environmental challenges raised by the Internet of Things”.
