Nikos Ioannidis graduated from the Law faculty of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece), where he additionally undertook the bar traineeship. He holds an LL.M. (magna cum laude) from the International Hellenic University, Greece, specialized on International Business law and Alternative Dispute Resolution. Moreover, he graduated from the specialized LL.M. (cum laude) on Intellectual Property and ICT Law of KU Leuven (Brussels). In 2014/2015, he was a visiting student (Erasmus) at the University of Liège, where he lived for two semesters studying European law.

Having always been engaged in technology’s impact and implications, right after graduating, he went through his military service as a Reserve Officer in Telecommunications and Signals, collaborating with the legal and technical departments of the Brigade. Subsequently, he completed the bar traineeship and worked as an associate lawyer in Thessaloniki, in a law firm specialized on IT law. After moving to Belgium, he joined the Center for IT and IP law (CiTiP) of KU Leuven working on two projects relating to smart cities and algorithmic transparency and explainability. Later, he was a Blue Book trainee within the Policy and Consultation Unit of the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS), where he mostly worked on AI regulation. In 2020, he joined the Research Group on Law, Science, Technology and Society (LSTS) at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel as a PhD researcher.
